Cyprus Railway Museum (Evrychou)
The only museum in Cyprus of a railway that no longer exists

The story
The museum is in the former station building near the village of Evrychou, in the Solea Valley on the northern slopes of Troodos. The Cyprus Government Railway ran from 1905 to 1951, from Famagusta through Nicosia to Morphou. From Morphou a third section ran south, to the terminus at Evrychou, but trains stopped coming here as early as the early 1930s. Only the main station building survived. The Department of Antiquities restored it, and outside, a platform and a stretch of track were laid again with original rails. Inside are documents, drawings, photographs and models of stations and carriages. There is no other railway museum in Cyprus.
Cyprus had a railway under the British from 1905 to 1951; today there are no trains, and the only museum about it is in the old Evrychou station. Evrychou, Kakopetria and Galata are villages of the Solea Valley in Nicosia District.
