Bust of Kimon
His last order was to keep his own death a secret.

Listen to this place’s story in Peplos.
How the story begins
Larnaca's seafront has a monument to a general who came here to take the town by force and, by the oldest account, failed. His name was Kimon. He sailed from Athens with two hundred warships to fight the Persian Empire, and laid siege to Kition, the Phoenician city that is now Larnaca. During the campaign he sent men to the shrine of Ammon with a secret question. No one knows what they were sent to ask.
The rest is in the app. Peplos plays the full story when you reach the place. You can also listen ahead of time.
