Parker House Hotel
Two brothers in one city that week. One had voted for Lincoln. The other, one man said, was practicing with a pistol.

Listen to this place’s story in Peplos.
How the story begins
Eight days before he shot Abraham Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth had breakfast at this hotel. The morning after the shooting, a letter went out from this hotel to his brother. The breakfast comes from a bellboy, Barney Brogan, who told the Boston Globe about it sixty years later. He placed the actor in the ladies' cafe of the old hotel, at the corner of School Street and Chapman Place, on the sixth of April, 1865, with two other men and the sun on his black hair.
The rest is in the app. Peplos plays the full story when you reach the place. You can also listen ahead of time.
