The Street Life Walls
A fight over fairies, on the street where Limassol's graffiti festival began.
Listen to this place’s story in Peplos.
How the story begins
On this street, officials once ordered a painter to erase his fairies from a wall he says had been sprayed with swastikas. It was 2007. A house on Saripolou had a wall that, he says, was sprayed with obscene messages and racist slogans, and a firm called Gifts and Gadgets was organising a graffiti festival with the town council's backing. It asked Achilleas Michaelides, who works as Paparazzi, to decorate it.
The rest is in the app. Peplos plays the full story when you reach the place. You can also listen ahead of time.
