Artemis trail
A loop around the summit of Olympus, also called Chionistra, the highest mountain in Cyprus, at about 1,850 m. The trail runs through black pine forest, past rare plants and rocks. Pines about 500 years old grow by the trail. The view opens in every direction.

Where to start
300 m from the fork where the Chionistra road leaves the Troodos–Prodromos road. At the start there is a parking area and a trail board.
Before you go
In winter there is snow on Olympus — there’s a ski resort here. The trail may be slippery or under snow.
A British radar station operates on the summit itself. The trail goes around the summit.
The loop runs close to the Atalante trail: where the trails meet, you can switch from one to the other.
Lighting fires in state forests and within 2 km of their boundary is forbidden. To report a fire, call 1407 — the call is free.
