The story

Caledonia, in Greek also Kalidonia, is a waterfall about 13 meters high in the Troodos forest. It is on the Kryos Potamos, the “Cold River”, about 2 kilometers north of the village of Pano Platres, in Limassol District. The Caledonia nature trail, about 3 kilometers long, leads to it. It runs through the Troodos National Forest Park, through dense forest along the river. The upper end of the trail is on the old Troodos–Platres road, near the president’s summer residence; the lower end is at Psilo Dendro, above Pano Platres. The waterfall is on the list of waterfalls of the Troodos Geopark, recognized by UNESCO.

The nature trail “Καληδόνια” is “Στο Δάσος του Τροόδους”, in the Troodos forest, not on Akamas, in the Pentadaktylos or in Athalassa park. The waterfall is in Limassol District, so in the question about Larnaca District it is a wrong option: there the correct answer is the Kamares Aqueduct.

Visiting

The trail is linear, not a loop: about 3 km and 1.5 h one way, difficulty 3, which is hard. The height difference is about 330 m (from 1,571 to 1,238 m). If you’re only going to the waterfall, it’s shorter to start from below, from Psilo Dendro above Pano Platres: on the map that’s about 1 km.
