How the story begins

Many people who lost their homes in the north of Cyprus in 1974 have spent fifty years living on streets named after Turkish and Turkish Cypriot figures. Until then, this was the Turkish Cypriot quarter of Paphos. Its streets honoured the poet Namik Kemal, the Turkish president Ismet Inonu, and Doctor Fazil Kucuk, the first vice president of the Republic of Cyprus. One was named after Kemal Ataturk.

The rest is in the app. Peplos plays the full story when you reach the place. You can also listen ahead of time.

Visiting

Cami Kebir stands in the Mouttalos quarter, about five minutes' walk south of Mouttalos Square along Namik Kemal Street. View it from outside: sources disagree on whether it is open, and we could not confirm any opening hours. Be quiet in the lanes, as people live here.
