The story

The Fontaine aux Mulets, the Mule Fountain, was put up in Saint-Cézaire after the Canal de la Siagne arrived. The canal was authorized by a decree of August 25, 1866, and opened in 1868. It takes water from the river near Saint-Cézaire and carries it to Cannes. Today a union of coastal communes runs it. Until 1860 Saint-Cézaire belonged to the Var department. From the fountain the trail goes around the church, takes Rue du Docteur Aubin and joins the paved path of the long-distance trail GR 510. It descends through olive trees, and then yellow waymarks lead along an old mule track to the river. On the way the trail crosses the canal on a small footbridge.
